Rick is the founder of Ironmen Outdoor Ministries, a Christ-centered nonprofit dedicated to serving veterans, first responders, youth, and individuals with special abilities through meaningful outdoor experiences.
With a deep faith and lifelong passion for the outdoors, Rick believes that time spent in God’s creation provides restoration, strength, and renewed purpose.
Driven by a heart to serve those who have sacrificed for others, Rick established Ironmen Outdoor Ministries to create opportunities for fellowship, mentorship, and spiritual encouragement through guided hunts, fishing trips, and outdoor retreats.
His leadership reflects a commitment to faith, integrity, and honoring those who serve.
Military & Youth Hunt Coordinator
festus potee
Festus serves on the Board of Directors for Ironmen Outdoor Ministries and also fulfills the role of Military and Youth Hunt Coordinator. Guided by the values of God, Family, and Country, Festus plays a key role in planning and supporting military, youth, and special ability outdoor programs that include hunting and fishing experiences in God’s country.
He works closely with volunteers, families, and ministry leadership to ensure each event is safe, welcoming, inclusive, and meaningful so participants can take part with confidence and joy. Festus has a steady presence and a servant’s heart, and he brings patience and care to every detail, especially when supporting veterans and special ability kids experiencing the outdoors.
Through his leadership and dedication, Festus helps create positive outdoor experiences that build confidence, strengthen fellowship, and advance the mission of Ironmen Outdoor Ministries in the communities it serves.

Military & Youth Hunt Assistant Coordinator
ryan wooten
Ryan Wooten serves on the Board of Directors for Ironmen Outdoor Ministries and has been connected to the ministry since childhood, having known founder Rick Murphy for many years. After serving as an infantryman in the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Ryan faced the challenges of transitioning to civilian life until a Colorado hunting trip with Hero Hunts helped restore purpose and direction.
That experience shaped his commitment to serving veterans and children with disabilities through faith based outdoor experiences grounded in the principle that iron sharpens iron.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Ryan is passionate about mentorship and continues to serve alongside his wife, Melanie, as they raise their daughter with values rooted in faith, service, and integrity.

Gulf Shores Coordinator
rachel godwin
Rachel serves as the dedicated coordinator for the American Heroes on the Gulf event, overseeing every detail from initial planning to final execution. With a heart for honoring veterans and first responders, she works diligently behind the scenes to ensure each guest feels valued, welcomed, and supported.
From managing event logistics and coordinating schedules to handling ticketing and participant communication, Rachel brings organization, compassion, and excellence to every aspect of the experience. Her commitment goes beyond administration, it reflects a genuine passion for serving those who have sacrificed for others.
Through her leadership, American Heroes on the Gulf continues to provide a meaningful, well-organized event that celebrates service, builds fellowship, and creates lasting memories rooted in faith and gratitude.

Jeff Godwin serves as the Assistant Gulf Shores Coordinator, supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of events in the Gulf Shores region. He plays an active role in the American Heroes on the Gulf event, helping ensure it runs smoothly and provides a meaningful experience for all involved. His dedication behind the scenes helps create an environment where guests can focus on connection, healing, and fellowship.
Guided by a heart for service and a strong foundation of faith, Jeff approaches his role with humility and a willingness to serve wherever he is needed. He is dedicated to supporting participants, volunteers, and staff, ensuring each person feels welcomed, cared for, and valued.
Jeff’s servant’s heart and commitment to God’s work make him a dependable and uplifting presence on the team. He is always ready to step in and serve wherever needed to support the mission.
