Ironmen Outdoor Ministries began with a simple act of faith. In 2007, Founder Rick Murphy and Co-Founder Greg Godwin felt called to create a meaningful outdoor experience for ten children in wheelchairs.

 

With just $500, they stocked a pond at Lagoon Park with 500 fish, received donated meals from Arby’s, and gave the children a day of fishing, fellowship, and joy.

Inspired by Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another,” Rick recognized a greater calling to bring people together through faith and service. That vision became Ironmen Outdoor Ministries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

What began with ten children and one fishing event has grown to serve youth, veterans, and others through outdoor experiences rooted in faith, compassion, and fellowship. The ministry continues to follow the same calling that started it all: trust God, serve others, and give Him the glory.
