Where Are They Now? One Year Later With Aaron Wessman

Last January, during the Ironmen Outdoor Ministries Gulf Coast Region and ShadowMajik Outdoors Military and Special Ability Kids Hunt in Mantua, Alabama, we had the honor of presenting Aaron Wessman with his very own Action Track Chair. It was a powerful moment, one rooted in faith, service, and the belief that access to the outdoors can change lives.

One year later, we had the opportunity to speak with Aaron and hear firsthand how that moment has shaped his daily life. Aaron shared that he is in his track chair every single day. It is not something that sits unused or reserved for special occasions. It has become part of his everyday routine, giving him the freedom to get outside, move independently, and experience places that were once out of reach.

The impact, in Aaron’s words, has been immeasurable. The chair has restored a level of mobility and independence he had wanted for a very long time. Whether navigating trails, spending time outdoors, or simply enjoying the ability to go where he chooses, the track chair has opened doors that were previously closed.

Stories like Aaron’s are why Ironmen Outdoor Ministries exists. We are deeply grateful and truly blessed to be able to serve veterans, individuals with disabilities, and special ability youth in this way. Being able to help change a life, restore independence, and provide meaningful access to God’s creation is a responsibility we do not take lightly.

Aaron’s journey is a reminder that the mission does not end the day a chair is delivered. The real impact is seen months and years later, in the lives lived fully because of it. We thank Aaron for trusting us, and we remain committed to continuing this work for others who are still waiting for that same opportunity.
